Mick Kinney is a folklorist, composer, lyricist, and multi instrumentalist. Expect an eclectic blend of ragtime, Georgia fiddle tunes, swing, Cajun, Irish, novelty songs, and some traditional style originals. He has recorded several albums of his own material; has accompanied Vick Chestnut, Victoria Williams, John Hartford; and collaborates regularly with his partner, Elise Witt.
Mick will be joined by his son Evan from their family string band, the HickHoppers. They performed this spring at the Brooklyn Folk Festival and will be featured artists this summer at the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes in Washington state. Their latest CDs are In Dear Old Georgia (2015), with Grammy winner Art Rosenbaum on banjo, and What Would Geezers Do? (2016).
